Justin Vernon and Sean Carey let us in on their jam session.
Fall Creek Boys Choir // James Blake & Bon Iver
The much anticipated collaboration has emerged, ladies and gents. It’s magnificent. There’s your classic falsetto Justin Vernon vocals with a toned down James Blake production flare that makes for the perfect collaborative effort. From reading a Pitchfork article, there’s supposedly another track from the duo being released in October. I can’t wait to see what’s in store. Perhaps a full album?
Holocene // Bon Iver
The song’s title Holocene is the name of a geological epoch. Very fittingly, Nabil Elderkin shot the video in one of the most geologic places on earth, Iceland. Naturally, the video was debuted by National Geographic. It’s absolutely stunning, isn’t it?
On Tuesday, Bon Iver played a sold out show at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. Thankfully, NPR was there to capture the glory and share it with the world. My God, it sounds so good. Justin Vernon’s voice is so haunting. Flume was my favorite, or maybe Skinny Love… or both equally. I love his new stuff, but I just can’t ever stop loving For Emma, Forever Ago. I can’t even imagine how it would be live. If they weren’t sold out, I would make a road trip to go see them in Austin. But since it is, I’ll just keep hoping that Bon Iver gets added to the ACL line up (although that’s very unlikely).
Anyway, do yourself a favor and listen to this fantastic recording.
